Update

By the way, we now have a website up for the Ruling Wars: Console™ game. A new link has been added to your left, but you can also access it here.

Also, Build 11-13-07 is up. Basically, there were a few problems with the 11-05-07 build that weren't noticed until today. The header.h file was missing for anyone who wanted to see the project source, and the .exe file was missing for anyone who just wanted to play the game. I fixed that. We should have another new release out soon that has a few more features, including NPCs, combat, larger static maps, and items other than our favorite Shiny Rock™. Enjoy!

Download - Build 11-13-07.

New download system and new build

I decided that considering how small the source files are compared to the executable (at a massive 512 kb) that I will only be offering downloads of the source+executable (previously the executable could be downloaded without source). If you just want to play the game, ignore the source files and click the one with the fancy RW icon.

Ruling Wars build 11-05-07 is released.
Changes:
  • The map now displays empty spaces as spaces, instead of '.'
  • The save file is now human readable
  • Multiple source files for easy editing and collaboration
  • Download

    Correction to previous post

Mr. Motar appears to think that only having the Supreme Rule capable of winning the game was a bug. It is in fact a feature, designed to add realism to the game.

    Announcing: Ruling Wars Version .000000000000000001!

I'm pleased to announce that we have a very pre-alpha release of the game available to everyone. It took some hard work and dedication, but we're finally we're ready to release it. There is a little bug that only allows the Supreme Rule to win, but we're working to fix that so it's fair for every Rule. You can find the download for it here. Unzip the file that's downloaded and you will be ready to play. No installation required! We'll be adding a player's manual soon as well as an in game 'help' command, but the controls are relatively easy to figure out. Use directional commands to move your avatar (N, S, E, W). Hooray!

    Today's Progress...

So today we made a considerable amount of progress. We worked on revising the History of the Rules some, to be more in continuity with our new game. We've also started working on storylines for our new game. In the up and coming weeks, we will begin development of units and character classes. More to come soon!

    Office, w00t!

Just writing to let everyone know that we actually have our own office now. We're renting a space and are spending actual office hours working on our game. The details of said game are quite confidential at the moment, but I'll tell you right now that you've never seen anything like it. It will be amazing. Also, we have a prototype of a generic MMO game that is uploaded and ready for you to enjoy. It includes all the features important to an MMO. It's not quite multiplayer-capable yet, but we plan to include that ability in the next patch. I don't know that I'll be including pics of the office anytime soon, being that the only camera I can seem to find is my crappy webcam, but if I can get a few shots of it, I'll post them on the front page.

Anyway, I've added +1 to my posting skills. Dang, I really need to start grinding... There will be another post next Tuesday.

    Bad news

Hey all, I have a bit of bad news. First off, I just wanted to let you all know that due to a number of unfortunate circumstances, Forefront Gaming, LLC is no longer going to be in business. Due to that, Frontline: 3110 - The Ruling Wars is being put on a permanent hiatus. It is very unlikely that the project will ever be resumed.

Next, we have also decided to disband the website within the next few months. It consumes our money which we will not be getting returned to us since our company is out of business. Feel free to email me with any questions. Seth dot secrist at forefrontgaming dot com.

    Updates!

Hey all. Yeah, I actually did something for once. I added a new web page here: Theories. I also updated the Rule History page and the Timeline page. We have also added a playable class: Priest. Yeah, we know, you've been waiting for us to finally realize that was an awesome class. We're implementing three religions that will be available for the priests. We have yet to think of two of them, but we for sure will be having The Church of the Holy Orange as one of them. There should be a website soon to inform you of the Teachings of the Orange. I've updated the classes page. Yeah, so that should work for now.
